Difference Between Daily&Half-Yearly Lenses

Daily disposable contact lenses are soft lenses for single use. They represent the ultimate in convenience and hygiene for all occasional contact lens wearers. Be it for sports or nights out, daily disposable contact lenses are ideal in every situation. No cleaning solutions are needed since the lenses are discarded at the end of each day and replaced with a fresh pair the next day. Daily disposables are available as single vision and multifocal contact lenses.

Other variants of soft contact lenses include bi-weekly and monthly disposable contact lenses. Bi-weekly or two-week contact lenses are ideal e.g. when going on holidays, eliminating the need to bring a pair of spectacles along. Monthly disposable contact lenses are the better choice for those requiring a permanent visual aid.

Many daily or monthly disposable soft contact lenses also offer tints and colors. They can be used to either completely change the color of the eyes or to highlight their natural color stylishly. Colored contacts are available with or without refractive correction.

Yearly or half-yearly contact lenses are offered as rigid gas-permeable and soft lenses. They are durable and have a long lifespan. Rigid gas-permeable contact lenses are particularly robust and scratch-resistant and thus ideal for extended wear. Since the manufacture of RGP contact lenses is rather complex, these lenses are not available as daily disposables.

All contact lenses, regardless of the type or material, must be professionally adjusted to the individual eye conditions to ensure long-lasting and safe wearing comfort.
